How to turn images into a PDF
- Choose your images, or drag them from a folder onto the box. You can add more in several goes.
- Put them in order. Each image becomes one page, from the top of the list down. Drag a row to move it, or use the up and down arrows, which also work with a keyboard and on phones.
- Pick the page size, the orientation and the margin. Automatic orientation turns the page sideways for wide pictures and keeps it upright for tall ones.
- Press Create PDF. The file downloads straight away. Open it once to check the pages before you send it.
Which settings to use
For documents you will upload to an Indian portal, such as an application form, a KYC submission or a college admission, A4 with a small margin is the safe choice. A4 is the paper size used across India and in most countries, and it prints without anything being cut off. US Letter is the standard in the United States and Canada, so pick it when the PDF will be printed there. Fit to each image makes every page exactly the size of its picture. That suits a set of screenshots, a photo album or a design file, where a white border would only get in the way.
The margin adds white space around each image. A small margin keeps the edge of a scanned page away from the very edge of the paper, which helps when the PDF is printed, because most printers cannot print right to the edge. Choose no margin when the picture should fill the whole page.
Photos that come out sideways elsewhere
Phone cameras often store a photo the way the sensor saw it and add a small tag that tells viewers which way is up. Gallery apps read the tag, so the photo looks right on your phone, but many PDF converters ignore it and the page comes out sideways or upside down. This page reads the tag and turns each photo upright before it is placed, so the PDF looks the way the photo looks in your gallery.
Image quality and file size
JPG and PNG images go into the PDF exactly as they are. They are not squeezed again, so no detail is lost and the PDF ends up close to the combined size of the pictures. Photos that need turning, and formats a PDF cannot hold such as WebP and GIF, are redrawn and stored as high quality JPEG. If a portal limits the upload to a few hundred kilobytes, make the photos smaller first with the Image Resizer, then convert them here. A photo of a printed page usually stays easy to read at a much smaller size than the camera saved it at, so check the text after resizing.
Private by design
The PDF is assembled on this page by pdf-lib, an open-source library that runs in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded, so ID cards, certificates and bank statements stay on your device. Once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.
Questions people ask
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is built by your browser with an open-source library called pdf-lib, which runs on this page. Your images never leave your device, which is why the tool works even after you switch off the internet once the page has loaded.
Does converting reduce the quality of my photos?
Usually not at all. JPG and PNG files are placed into the PDF exactly as they are, without being compressed again. Only photos that need turning upright, and formats a PDF cannot hold such as WebP or GIF, are redrawn and saved as high quality JPEG first.
Should I pick A4 or Letter?
A4 is the standard paper size in India and most of the world, and it is what government portals, banks and colleges in India expect. US Letter is slightly wider and shorter and is the standard in the United States and Canada. Fit to image makes every page exactly the size of its picture, with no white border unless you add a margin.
Why was my phone photo sideways in other converters?
Phones often save a photo sideways and add a small tag that tells viewers to turn it. Many converters ignore the tag. This page reads it and turns the picture upright before it goes into the PDF.
How do I make the PDF smaller for an upload limit?
The PDF is roughly the size of the images inside it. Resize or compress the photos first with the Image Resizer, then convert them here. Choosing fewer pages or cropping out empty space helps too.
Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?
Safari can read HEIC, so on an iPhone or a Mac the photos convert directly. Most other browsers cannot open HEIC, and the page tells you which files it could not read. Set the iPhone camera to Most Compatible, or share the photo as JPG, and it will work everywhere.
