Site Updates

What changed on QuickTools Plus and when. Every entry below maps to a real change in the project, so this page doubles as the maintenance log for the calculators. Spotted an error? Write to quicktoolsindiaa@gmail.com.

New name: QuickTools Plus

  • QuickTools India is now QuickTools Plus, at www.quicktoolsplus.com. The site is growing beyond Indian calculators, so the name no longer says India. Every Indian calculator stays, with the same figures.
  • Every page kept its path, so an old quicktoolsindia.com link forwards to the same page here.
  • Corrections still go to quicktoolsindiaa@gmail.com.

Every figure checked against the latest official numbers

  • Study Abroad: exchange rates updated to SBI's card selling rates of 6 November 2026 ($1 = ₹94.45, £1 = ₹127.41, €1 = ₹106.50, CAD 1 = ₹67.63, AUD 1 = ₹65.77). The old ₹83 to the dollar was well out of date. Living costs now start from each country's 2026 student visa minimum (Canada CAD 23,448 from 1 September 2026, Australia AUD 29,710, Germany a €11,904 blocked account, UK £1,171 a month outside London), and the rupee totals were recalculated.
  • Salary: the EPF wage ceiling is ₹25,000 a month from 17 September 2026 (it was ₹15,000), so the pension share is now capped at ₹2,083 a month. The 50% HRA city list for tax year 2026-27 has eight cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad.
  • Income tax, salary, PPF, SSY and the tax guides now give the section numbers of the Income-tax Act, 2025, with the old 1961 number in brackets, for example section 123 (was 80C) and section 156 (was 87A). The limits did not change.
  • Checked and unchanged: the income tax slabs, rebate and standard deduction (Budget 2026), GST rates (the GST Council's 8 October 2026 meeting changed none), capital gains rates, PPF at 7.1% and SSY at 8.2% for October to December 2026, and EPF interest at 8.25% for FY 2025-26.

Faster updates in Bing

  • The site now uses IndexNow, so Bing and other participating search engines hear about a changed page as soon as it is published instead of waiting for their next crawl.
  • Shortened the Number to Words Converter's search summary to the length Bing recommends.

Reset button and slider fixes

  • The Reset button no longer blanks dropdown menus. On the Study Abroad Calculator this had made every result read "₹NaN" after a reset, and on the Salary and EMI Prepayment calculators it emptied the city type and loan type menus.
  • PPF and SSY calculators: the deposit slider now moves in steps that land on round amounts, so it can reach the ₹1,50,000 yearly maximum. Before, it stopped at ₹1,49,500 (PPF) and ₹1,49,250 (SSY), and Reset turned the ₹1,00,000 default into ₹1,00,500 or ₹1,00,250.

Guides now display properly on every screen

  • All 16 guides were showing as plain unformatted text: headings at body size, lists without numbers or bullets and tables without lines. The article styling is now switched on, so they read as intended.
  • Guides no longer run wider than the screen on phones. The breadcrumb wraps and wide tables scroll inside their own box.
  • Replaced leftover maths notation (for example "1920 \times 1080") with plain text in five guides, and removed raw chart code from the credit score guide.
  • Cheque guide: one crore is now written with the correct Indian grouping, 1,00,00,000.
  • Credit score guide: the factor weights are now marked as approximate. CIBIL does not publish its weights, and the commonly quoted figures come from the US FICO model. The loan rates in its example table are labelled as examples.
  • Compound interest guide: the 8% example is now tied to the 8.2% Sukanya Samriddhi rate. It previously called 8% the PPF return, which is 7.1%.

Tax guide corrected for the new slabs, GST guide moved to GST 2.0

  • How to Save Income Tax guide rewritten for FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27. It still showed the older slabs (nil only up to Rs 3 lakh), so its worked example overstated new-regime tax at a Rs 12 lakh salary. Under the current slabs and the Rs 12 lakh rebate that salary pays no tax in the new regime. The guide now has a break-even table and a second example where the old regime genuinely wins.
  • HRA example corrected: only Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai count as metros for the 50% limit.
  • Understanding GST guide updated to the GST 2.0 structure in force since 22 September 2025, with a before-and-after table for common items.
  • Repaired price ranges in the wedding, car loan, savings comparison and tax guides that an earlier formatting clean-up had turned into comma lists, and restored minus signs in the tax worked examples.
  • PPF, SSY and NSC rates confirmed unchanged for the October to December 2026 quarter and the pages relabelled.
  • Articles revised after publication now show an Updated date.
  • Added a Where to verify box to 22 calculator and guide pages, linking to the official source for each rule or rate (Income Tax Department, CBIC, RBI, National Savings Institute, EPFO and others).
  • Removed the bank-by-bank interest rate tables from the home loan and car loan calculators. They were from early 2025 and still labelled current. They are replaced with an explanation of how rates are set and a checklist for comparing offers.
  • Homepage text updated for the GST 2.0 rates and the current tax years.

Tax figures brought up to date, deeper reference content

  • GST Calculator now uses the GST 2.0 slabs (0%, 5%, 18% and 40%) in force since 22 September 2025. The retired 12% and 28% rates stay available under a legacy option for checking older invoices.
  • Income Tax Calculator relabelled for FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27, with the rebate, marginal relief and regime comparison explained on the page. Budget 2026 left the slabs unchanged.
  • Capital gains figures on the SIP Calculator, PPF Calculator and the SIP beginner's guide corrected to the rates in force since 23 July 2024 (12.5% long-term above Rs 1.25 lakh, 20% short-term).
  • Number to Words converter now handles paise and shows the international (million/billion) wording alongside the Indian form.
  • Number to Words, Cash Counter, Age Calculator, Image Resizer, SIP Calculator, GST Calculator, Income Tax Calculator and Salary Calculator pages rewritten with practical reference sections and expanded FAQs.
  • Removed FAQ structured data from seven calculator pages (home loan, car loan, EMI prepayment, PPF, SSY, study abroad, wedding cost) because those questions and answers were never shown on the page; search engines require FAQ markup to match visible content.
  • The About, Contact, Privacy, Terms and Disclaimer pages are now listed in the sitemap, sitemap dates come from the actual edit history, and this updates page was added.

Honesty pass on the About page

  • Removed editorial bios and toned down authority claims so the site describes itself as what it is: a small independent project.
  • Dropped an empty advertising slot.

Long-form guides and a disclaimer page

  • Eight long-form guides added to the blog, a dedicated disclaimer page, and FAQ structured data on calculator pages.

Bug fixes

  • EMI Prepayment Calculator no longer shows a negative zero for interest saved and handles very long tenures.
  • Fixed browser compatibility problems, jumpy scrolling, stale reset states and blank image dimensions in the Image Resizer.

Four new articles

  • Four new blog posts and expanded versions of the existing ones.

Indian number formatting and marginal relief

  • All rupee inputs now show Indian-style comma separators (1,00,000).
  • Income Tax Calculator marginal relief corrected and the static example figures fixed.

Site scan fixes

  • Broken links, overly long titles and missing H1 headings fixed after a Bing site scan.

Three new calculators and a blog

  • Income Tax Calculator (old vs new regime), Salary Calculator (CTC to in-hand) and EMI Prepayment Calculator launched with explanatory content.
  • Blog section added; layout fixes on the Age and Car Loan calculators.

Interface fixes

  • A set of critical and medium interface issues fixed across the site; an inaccurate comparison claim removed.

Search indexing fixes

  • Redirects for old page addresses, year references updated, social preview image and collection fixes. Further metadata fixes followed on 11 March 2026.

Persistence, sharing and platform upgrade

  • Calculators remember your last inputs, every calculator gained a reset button and a WhatsApp share option.
  • Fixed a Number to Words error on very large numbers and an overflow in the Cash Counter.
  • Site moved to Eleventy 3 with dark mode across all pages.

Launch

  • First release with the SIP, GST, Age and Image Resizer tools, followed within days by the Study Abroad and Wedding Cost calculators, the Tools menu, the About, Contact, Privacy and Terms pages and structured data on every page.
